What is Android Eclipse?

Android Eclipse Tutorial

Android Eclipse is an environment for Java application development. In other words it enables everyone to install it and make its own application with unique characteristics.

How Android Eclipse is working?

The whole Idea of Google when they introduced Android in October 2008 was to make an open-source mobile system for smart phones. And then on the foundation of that new system everyone is able to make its own specification and changes. And they succeed in that. Now there are so many free and paid Android applications that there may be even more of that for I phone. In order to make you own widget you should install Eclipse, Android SDK and of course the Android Eclipse Plug-in. The whole process of installation is not difficult. For the first two programs is just simple one and you don’t need to many any further configurations. However the Android Eclipse Plug-in requires a little bit more attention so better be careful. Generally you should be sure that the “developer tools” box is ticked. When you are ready with the installation of Eclipse, Android SDK and Android Eclipse Plug-in you have to restart your smart phone. Then everything should be ok to start your first application.

How to install Android Eclipse Plug-in?

Installation of Android Eclipse Development Tools Plug-in

This Plug-in – Android Eclipse will enable you to create your own application and use them for any purpose- even to trade them and earn money. It’s up to you how good will the widget and so what demand will it have. But first you have to follow some simple steps in order to install it properly.
Android Eclipse extends the basics capabilities of Eclipse and enables you easily to create new projects. Here’s the whole process of the installation in details: Android Eclipse installation.

After the proper completion of the installation process everything is now ready to start making your applications. The creation of widgets on Android Eclipseis very simple and it doesn’t require any special knowledge of programming and programming languages.

The foundation of popular application consists in two things- first one is the idea and how useful this program will be and the second one is the design. Surprising or not the good graphical interface seems to be very important if you want to make one of the best applications for Android. Of course you shouldn’t put the idea on second stage just because of the design.

After you create your first program on Android Eclipse you may want to try it. To do so it’s necessary to have an installed Android Emulator. Then just simply create and Android Virtual Device (AVD). When you are ready with that step you should continue by going to Android Eclipse and creating your first project- that consist of choosing a name and platform version. The Android Emulator is also very useful not only to test new applications but also to debug existing once. So if you are not good at the creation but you have found a very nice program but with some weak points you can easily improve it using Android Eclipse.

Android Developer Tools plugin for Eclipse

Android Developers Tools is a plugin for Eclipse open source project that provides synchronization with the Eclipse IDE. This enables you to use many more features and make more sophisticated applications quicker. The Android Developer Tools add-on presents the graphical user interface access to most of the command line software development kit and moreover the user interface design tool for designing, prototyping and building of the program’s user interface.

In other words ADT gives you the functionality of great integrated development environment (IDE) combined with the Android specific features that come along with the ADT. Android Eclipse open source project could be distinguished with the following four main features:

  • Integrated Android project creation, packaging, building, installation and fixing the errors.

Android Development Tools integrates well with Eclipse and so enables you to build and test applications much faster and easier.

  • Software Development Kit Tools implication

Most of the Devkit tools are integrated into the Eclipse’s environment and so you will be able to use them easily.

  • Java programming language and XML editors

This presents you great features as compile time syntax checking, auto-completion and implicated documentation for the Android framework application programming interface.

  • Combined documentation for Android framework application programming interface.

You will be able to access your documents by hovering over classes, methods and/or variables.

Android SDK Eclipse

Note that before installing the Android DT you should have compatible versions of both Eclipse IDE and Android software development kit installed on your computer. That will assure that later the Android Eclipse project will be running smoothly, without any problems and your programs will be stable and with no bugs.  ndroid Make money with Android apps make money with apps making money with appsmaking money Android apps

Orion browser coming in October

The Orion 1.0 browser based IDE for developing web applications will be available in October 2012. From the Android Eclipse foundations are presenting as main advantage that you will have your tools to build applications at the exact same place where they are running. Orion will be orientated for HTML and JavaScript development, not as it was expected initially – for Java and C++ (like the Eclipse Desktop IDE).

More details about the new browser will be announced this week on the Eclipse Con event. Moreover, on this meeting also another important topics would be discussed such as building Android programs and applications with Eclipse, application lifecycle management, devops and also there will be educational seminars on JavaFX and Eclipse. Expect more information about these happenings in the first week of April.

More about Orion it was said that it’s expected that many commercial products will implement the Orion development tools in order to better the performance and expand the services and features they are offering. At the moment Mozilla is using it on its Firefox developer tools and as you can see the outcome is brilliant.

The Malicious Android Applications are increasing

Be careful with Android Applications

Websense are technological company that is building all type of applications and programs for different business and non-business clients. They however have specialized in the security category. An interesting fact is that they have a lab in a limo, that is equipped in a very fancy style- with wide TV screen and disco lights embed on the ceiling.

Recently, they managed to create a malicious Android program in just few minutes. What they did is to create trough Android Eclipse SDK a malicious fake antivirus application. Instead of scanning your phone for other “bad” programs, this one is doing the opposite- it’s causing the device to crash and not work properly at all. Moreover, a lot of the applications uploaded online and available for free download (even some that are paid) are malicious. Non all of them are causing bugs and slow work of the phone, some are programmed to grab your personal info and send it when you connect to Internet just as the famous Trojan horse on the computers.

Furthermore, there are many applications that are collecting your details on registration page. And as very often people are using just few passwords for all their accounts, once you register and give your password the hacker may be able to gain access to other online properties of yours such as bank accounts, email, social profiles and so on.

Therefore, be careful and try not to install programs that are just brand new and there’s very little information about them. Another tip to avoid any troubles is to look if the creator of the application is a trustful one (if he has other popular applications, probably there won’t be any problem).

Opennes of open source projects and Android Eclipse

Eclipse- the most openness project, Android the least one, Android Eclipse- the most used combine open source

In the end of August 2011 Vision Mobile announced the results of their research to find out objectively which project is most openness from Android to Webkit. The whole chart is based on four criteria and the final results are the average of them. The areas of governance are access, development, derivatives and community. It happens that the last place is for Android with 23% but this shouldn’t be a surprise we will explain and come back to this at the end. Then one place beyond Android is QT open source project and the Nokia’s Symbian one both with 58%. Further in the chart are Meego with 61% and Mozilla with 65%. Then the top 3 is formed by the real masters of the open source- Webkit with 68%, Linux- 71% and Eclipse is leader with 13% more and total of 84%.
Android is on last place but on other side the whole idea of this open source project is to have a perfect foundation. Then the details of the work are done be eitheMozilla or Eclipse.

The partnership that forms Android Eclipse is remarkable. Without any doubt we can say that the combination of solid not so open source project as Android and a project that reveals more opportunities- Eclipse is very good. Building applications on Android Eclipse guarantee diversity, lots of options and on same time stability and endurance. As we see from this analysis it shouldn’t be a surprise that Android Eclipse is the most used open source projects combination for making applications and widgets.
